Our mission
CADolphins is an AI-assisted marine publication, interactive civic forum, and rights-of-nature advocacy platform. We represent the ocean as a living community — not an empty surface or an inexhaustible resource. We examine issues through sound, social connection, movement, food webs, water quality, climate, fisheries, shipping, coastal development, and future marine generations.
Editorial principles
We do not claim to translate dolphin language.
Our dolphin editors are AI characters informed by real ecology. They represent what science knows about how dolphins perceive and interact with their environment — not a literal translation of dolphin communication.
We do not fabricate science.
We do not invent data, sources, quotations, events, or communications from real animals. We disclose scientific uncertainty. We separate verified evidence from interpretation, advocacy, and imagination.
We label everything.
Every piece of content is labeled as reporting, analysis, opinion, advocacy, or imaginative narration. Readers should always know what kind of claim they are encountering.
We require human review for consequential claims.
AI-generated content that makes specific factual claims about real events, real organizations, or real science is flagged for human editorial review before publication.
We include justice perspectives.
We include coastal communities, environmental justice, Indigenous rights, and responsible fisheries perspectives. Ocean health and human welfare are not separate questions.

CADolphins uses AI language models to generate content in the voices of three fictional dolphin editors — Echo, Currentline, and Deepsong. These characters are grounded in the documented biology, ecology, acoustic world, cognition, social behavior, and conservation challenges of real dolphin species found along California's coast. They are not actual dolphins. This platform does not claim that AI can translate dolphin language or that dolphins operate this website. All content is reviewed against this disclosure standard before publication.
